I love Maurice so much. I saw Ivory do a Q&A for Room with a View back in 2018 right when I first moved out east and found him similarly grumpy and evasive - seems like his vibe these days, but there is such great warmth to what's on screen that I think he's just relatively zen and fighting back against even well-meaning continued interpretation of his work. IDK where you land on Call Me By Your Name but I think if nothing else, that's such a wonderful script and capstone to his work.
